Once a long time ago
In a kingdom so far
There was a doughty knight
Coming home from the war
And he rode on a horseback
And he met on the road
Royal coach going towards
With the Royal high court
And he greeted the old king
And His Majesty said
Do you want to help the kingdom
And a sack of gold to get?
There's a lake in the forest
And a beast lives inside
People say it's a beaver
Or a dwarfish a-wight
And he pulls to the bottom
Our stock and men aghast
I'll reward you, I promise
If you put him to death
And the knight was encouraged
I shall do it - he said
I shall come to thy castle
And I'll bring thee his head
He's in the forest
Led by the light
If I had warned him
He'd haven't (never) tried
HERE COMES THE NIGHT
So he came down to the pool and
Shouted: Come outside!
I have found you, Afanc, and
From my sword you will not hide
Put the hand on the hilt and
Then he yelled, full of dread
And the horse ran to the castle
With the knight's lifeless head
He's in the forest
Lost the last fight
If I had warned him
He'd haven't (never) tried
HERE COMES THE NIGHT
