Музыка Норберта Шультце, слова Гансе Лейпа.
В основу текста этой знаменитой песни было положенео стихотворение, сочиненное немецким поэтом Гансом Лейпом (1891-1983) в период его армейской (гарнизонной) службы в годы Великой (Первой мировой) войны. Между прочим, Лейп, волею судьбы, нес караульную соужбу в Берлине. Случилось так, что Ганс Лейп был влюблен сразу в двух девушек, с которыми встречался попеременно. Одну из них звали Лили, другую – Марлен. Обе девушки слились в представлении поэта в один образ желанной возлюбленной, соединиться с которой ему помешали война и солдатский долг. Положенное на музыку немецким композитором Норбертом Шультце (1911-1983), стихотворение Ганса Лейпа приобрело особенную популярность в исполнении певицы Лале Андерсен (1919-1972), став подлинным «шлягером» времен Европейской Гражданской войны (причем по обе стороны фронта), благодаря достаточно случайному стечению обстоятельств. Непритязательная, лиричная песня о молодом солдате караульной части, который надеется встретиться вновь с девушкой, в которую влюблен, 18 августа 1941 года случайно попала в программу концерта по заявкам радиослушателей солдатского «Радио Белград» (между прочим, белградская радиостанция была восстановлена 19 апреля 1941 года солдатами 3-й роты полка «Великая Германия» под командованием обер-лейтенанта Фабиха). Успех песни оказался настолько ошеломляюшим, что с тех пор «Лили Марлен» выходила в эфир каждый вечер в 21:57. На многих участках фронта в это время вступало в силу своеобразное негласное «соглашение о прекращении огня», чтобы грохот выстрелов не мешал солдатам по обе стороны линии огня слушать задушевный, слегка хрипловатый голос далекой певицы. Интересно, что имперскому министру пропаганды Третьего рейха доктору Йозефу Геббельсу песня не понравилась. Он считал, что ее слова и музыка «отдают трупным запашком» и могут отрицательно сказаться на боевом духе германских войск, называл сочинение Ганса Лейпа «упадочническими виршами с привкусом средневековой пляски смерти» и в 1942 году запретил певице Лале Андерсен исполнять «Лили Марлен» на концертах, а после гибели германской 6-й армии генерал-фельдмаршала Фридриха Паулюса в советском окружении под Сталинградом запретил транслировать песню даже по радио. Между тем, к моменту запрета, «Лили Марлен» была переведена уже на 48 языков и превратилась, между прочим, в неотъемлемую состаную часть программ концертов по заявкам слушателей радиостанций западных союзников. По-английски ее исполняла эмигрировавшая перед войной из Третьего рейха немецкая киноактриса и певица Марлен Дитрих, по-французски – «парижский воробей» Эдит Пиаф.
