Mind wide open
Listening eyes
Tasting silence
Breath contrived
Moving shadows
and lucid dreams
upon the ceiling
Calling me home…
And I still see that world
beyond my lids
I still feel its pull
begging to live
I can feel it’s poison surround my heart
as I reach for nothing, but the dark
How could you know of what I’m speaking?
To observe what can’t be seen?
A penny for your thoughts, but a fortune for your dreams
A mirror is before you but your face it will not show
Your consciousness projects a portrait of your soul
Your silence; loud as thunder
Your screams; soft as rain
They dance upon the ceiling
holding firm until they wane
Distant echoes sound behind you
But you’re focused far ahead
Dying as you’re living
Living as you’re dead
And I still see that world
beyond my lids
I still feel its pull
begging to live
I can feel it’s poison surround my heart
as I reach for nothing, but the dark
Why would you care of what I’m feeling?
This pain is not your own
You’ve deciphered one puzzle
with infinite more to go
You can try to fix what’s broken
Unseen fractures will remain
You can’t mend it to perfection
You can’t win your little game
The stars are made of water
And this ocean is aflame
The sky below is earthy
The ground above is wind
Yourself composed of nothing
As forever won’t remain
This disconnect between us
I can never quite explain
