Up on Melancholy Hill there's a plastic tree
Are you here with me?
Just looking out on the day of another dream
Where you can't get what you want but you can get me
So let's set out to sea
Cause you are my medicine when you're close to me
When you're close to me
[Verse 2: 2-D]
So call in the submarines 'round the world we'll go
Does anybody know
If we're looking out on the day of another dream?
If you can't get what you want then come with me
Up on Melancholy Hill
Sits the manatee
Just looking out for the day
When you're close to me
When you're close to me
When you're close to me
ABOUT THIS SONG
This song is actually said to be about the not so good side of consumerism. The album itself in many ways criticizes society in a number of ways, but it is different from the rest of the songs because it has more of a “pop” feel to it. Lyrically it fits in with the theme of the album but it is more upbeat showing a paradox in the song because it sounds “happy” but is actually kind of sad.
THE CREATORS OPINIONS
