Not to Touch the Earth — это всё, что осталось от The Celebration of Lizard на альбоме. Не без оснований было решено записать только ту часть, где присутствует хоть какая-то музыка. Целиком композицию фанаты услышали только в 1970 г. на концертном сборнике Absolutely Live. «Not To Touch the Earth» — аллюзия на греческий миф, герой которого, великан Антей, касаясь земли, черпал из неё силы и был побеждён Гераклом, оторвавшим его от этого источника живительной энергии. Также в книге Джеймса Джоржда Фрэзера (James George Frazer) «Aftermath: A Supplement To the Golden Bough» (1937) есть две главы под названиями «Не касайся Земли» и «Не смотри на Солнце» (книга была переведена на русский язык в сокращённом варианте, в который эти две главы не вошли). В данных главах рассматриваются различные табу, налагаемые на соплеменников после их участия в определённых собятиях и ритуалах. Например, женщинам отдельных племён во время менструации предписывалось жить в специально построенных на шестах хижинах вдали от деревни, запрещалось касаться земли и смотреть на солнце. В пьесе The Celebration of Lizard Моррисон описывает массовый исход людей из городов — символов современной цивилизации, возвращение к племенным устоям, на его взгляд более искренним и правильным. Моррисон многое почерпнул из книг Фрэзера, в частности, описание примитивного ритуального танца по кругу, который часто демонстрировал на своих шоу. «House upon a hill» — символ богатства. «Dead president’s corpse in the driver’s car» — намёк на Джона Ф. Кеннеди, застреленного в президентской машине в Далласе в 1963-м году. Любопытный факт — в 1994 г. американский профессор Лоуренс Меррик опубликовал книгу «Убийство посланника: смерть Дж. Ф. Кеннеди», в которой утверждал, что компьютерный анализ любительских киноплёнок, на которых был запечатлён момент убийства президента, показал, что в Кеннеди стрелял из пистолета с глушителем его собственный шофёр.
