Group of The Brian Jonestown Massacre was founded in San Francisco in 1990 by Anton Alfred Newcombe ( for some time it is also known by the name of Anton Fjords ) , Matt Hollywood and Joel Gion . The band's name is a " gluing " the name of the late guitarist The Rolling Stones Brian Jones and the City of Johnstown in Gayane , where in 1976, 918 people were killed in a mass suicide .
