Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing дебютный альбом канадской экстремальной группы Strapping Young Lad вышедший 4 апреля 1995 года на лейбле Century Media Records в 2006ом году 12 июня вышла ремастированное издание содержащий 3 бонус трека, клип на одноименную песню и 12ти страничный артворк. Strapping Young Lad начала свою карьеру в 1995 году как сольный проект канадского музыканта Девина Таунсенда. Раньше Таунсэнд выступал в качестве вокалиста у Стивена Вая которые выпустили полноформатник в 1993 году "Sex & Religion" а в 1994ом выступал с ним в гастрольных турах. Тансэнд считал себя музальной шлюхой которые якобы израсходал первые 5 лет в пустую по воле других людишек:)) Во время непродолжительной работы в качестве сессионого гитариста группы The Wildhearts, Таунсенд получил телефонный звонок от A&R представителей Roadrunner Records, выражая заинтересованность в его демо-песнях и намерение подписать с ним контракт. Предложение было в конечном счете отменено главой Roadrunner, которые считали песни Таунсэнда как чистый нойз. также ему отказали и в Relativity Records, тк не особо понравился альбом Sex & Religion. Но Century Media предложили с ним контракт с просьбой записать несколько экстремальных альбом на что Таунсэнд согласился. После турне с The Wildhearts Таунсэнд решил записать полноформатник Heavy Is Really Heavy Thing под маркой Strapping Young Lad. По словам Таунсенд, процесс записи занял "около недели". также он нанял сессионщиков среди них Эдриан Уайт - ударник и гитарист Джед Саймон. сам альбом не был широко признан в метал-сообществе. что негативно сказалось в продажах 143 копии в первые 6 месяцев. ондако пресса по тяжелой музыки оценили очень хорошо они посчитали что это уникальная идея сделать смесь индастриал, трэш, и дэт метал.Тем не менее, Таунсенд неоднократно выражал свою неприязнь к записи. ему в основном нравились только первые 2 песни. Таунсэнд также не был доволен тем что его альбом переиздали посчитав это лишней хренью.

Heavy as a Really Heavy Thing debut album of the Canadian extreme band Strapping Young Lad, released on April 4, 1995 via Century Media Records, on June 12, a remastered edition containing 3 bonus tracks, a video for the song of the same name and 12 page artwork was released. Strapping Young Lad began her career in 1995 as a solo project by Canadian musician Devin Townsend. Previously, Townsend acted as a vocalist with Stephen Wye who released a full-length album in 1993, "Sex & Religion", and in 1994 he performed with him on tour. Tansend considered himself to be a museum whore who allegedly spent the first 5 years in vain at the behest of other people :)) During his short work as the session guitarist of The Wildhearts, Townsend received a phone call from A&R representatives of Roadrunner Records expressing interest in his demo songs and intention to sign a contract with him. The proposal was eventually canceled by the head of Roadrunner, who considered Townsend's songs as pure noise. he was also denied Relativity Records, because he didn’t really like the Sex & Religion album. But Century Media offered a contract with him asking them to record some extreme albums to which Townsend agreed. After a tour with The Wildhearts, Townsend decided to record a full-length Heavy Is Really Heavy Thing under the brand name Strapping Young Lad. According to Townsend, the recording process took "about a week." he also hired session counselors, among them Adrian White, drummer and guitarist Jed Simon. the album itself was not widely recognized in the metal community. which negatively affected the sales of 143 copies in the first 6 months. Ondako press on heavy music appreciated very well, they considered it a unique idea to make a mixture of industrial, thrash, and death metal. However, Townsend repeatedly expressed his dislike of the recording. he mostly liked only the first 2 songs. Townsend was also not happy with the fact that his album was reissued considering it an extra crap.
