В данный момент держу в руках последний альбом Novalis под названием Paradise+?". Красивое оформление, бирюзово-черные тона, букашка-комарик на обложке. Первое впечатление более чем благоприятное.
Но обратимся к музыке и звучанию. Альбом состоит из двенадцати треков длительностью около 54 минут. К ним следует добавить видео на песню "Of the golden future time" - концертное выступление группы на Summer Darkness festival in Utrecht в 2004 году, которое можно просмотреть на персональном компьютере. В целом музыку Novalis следует охарактеризовать как смесь folk и darkwave, при этом принимая во внимание, что все участники группы, не говоря о "гостях", имеют разные музыкальные пристрастия и, соответственно, влияния на Novalis. Так, барабанщик Mario Krell предпочитает рок, клавишник Marcel Hinkel интересуется электронной музыкой, а вокалист Stev Schumann (по совместительству и гитарист) скорее тяготеет к чему-то мрачно-фолковому. Как эти трое уживаются друг с другом, для меня остается загадкой. При этом они умудряются делать музыку, которая прямо-таки очаровывает слушателя+ Замечу, правда, что первое прослушивание может показаться серым. Очарование приходит как минимум после третьего прослушивания, но только потом уже "не отпускает" :)
Акустические гитары, неоклассические аранжировки, обогащающие звучание и придающие ему колорит, совмещенный мужской и женский вокалы+Спокойная, красивая и очень мелодичная музыка. Динамика и темп на протяжении всего альбома в принципе не изменяются. Ритм относительно постоянен, лишь изредка сопровождение придает теме черты танцевальности (When darkness falls). Некоторая лирическая грусть, а вмесе с ней и надежда, звучит не только в музыке, но и голосах певцов (Last summer rose, Where is the paradise, etc) . Следует отметить, что мужской вокал чем-то напоминает вокалиста Александра Вельянова из Deine Lakaien. Также обнаруживается некоторое сходство с музыкой таких групп, как Lux Interna, Sonne Hagal, Sol Invictus.
Все треки обладают известной общностью. Последовательность частей, их взаимообусловленность подчинены у Novalis направляющей развитии идеи. И совсем неудивительно, что заключительными словами альбома являются:
"All my wishes and hopes lie there,
My soul starts to fly, when I'm dreaming from here.
I wish you could see this place just one time".
Да и что можно возразить Novalis на правильное замечание "Oh were is the paradise, if not in my heart?" Novalis

At the moment I’m holding in my hands the latest Novalis album entitled Paradise +? ". Beautiful design, turquoise-black tones, mosquito insect on the cover. The first impression is more than favorable.
But let's turn to music and sound. The album consists of twelve tracks lasting about 54 minutes. To them should be added a video for the song "Of the golden future time" - a concert performance of the group at the Summer Darkness festival in Utrecht in 2004, which can be viewed on a personal computer. In general, Novalis music should be described as a mixture of folk and darkwave, while taking into account that all the band members, not to mention the "guests", have different musical passions and, accordingly, influences on Novalis. So, drummer Mario Krell prefers rock, keyboardist Marcel Hinkel is interested in electronic music, and vocalist Stev Schumann (concurrently and guitarist) is more inclined to something dark and folk. How these three get along with each other remains a mystery to me. At the same time, they manage to make music that directly captivates the listener + I note, however, that the first listening may seem gray. The charm comes at least after the third listening, but only then "does not let go" :)
Acoustic guitars, neoclassical arrangements that enrich the sound and give it a touch, combined male and female vocals + Calm, beautiful and very melodic music. The dynamics and pace throughout the album, in principle, do not change. The rhythm is relatively constant, only occasionally accompaniment gives the theme lines of dance (When darkness falls). Some lyrical sadness, and with it hope, sounds not only in the music, but also in the voices of the singers (Last summer rose, Where is the paradise, etc). It should be noted that male vocals are somewhat reminiscent of vocalist Alexander Velyanov from Deine Lakaien. Some similarities with the music of such groups as Lux Interna, Sonne Hagal, Sol Invictus are also found.
All tracks have a well-known commonality. The sequence of parts, their interdependence, are subordinated to Novalis in the direction of the development of ideas. And it is not surprising that the final words of the album are:
"All my wishes and hopes lie there,
My soul starts to fly, when I'm dreaming from here.
I wish you could see this place just one time ".
