Saw the world in a dream
And woke up feeling cheated
In what turned out to be an ordinary room
My massive tragedy defeated
And all the power of emotion that had gripped me
Had drained out into black silence
Still I could hear the buses running on schedule
Two hours into the new day
At night I lay me
Down to sleep
Planes crashing
Through my dreams
Lights flashing
In front of my eyes
Pray shall I wake
Before I die
Saw the end of my life in a dream
And woke up in a cold sweat
Only dimly aware of what I'd seen
But still feeling a vague threat
And as the power of fear overwhelmed me
I fought to turn on the radio
To hear the damning voice of a minister
Two hours into the new day
At night I lay me
Down to sleep
Planes crashing
Through my dreams
Lights flashing
In front of my eyes
Pray shall I wake
Before I die
