Вегард "Ишан" Сверре-Твейтан всегда в движении. The latter demonstrates the Hammond organ, providing durable nostalgia by progressive rock 70s, and deep shreding with a classic feeling.
But despite the riffs and places of TRESH subtext, "Arktis." It will be remembered by its progressive character, which resembles the care of the Norwegian scene from Black at the turn of the Millennium. Thus, the "South Winds" and "Frail" numbers flas out with electronics referring to Mortiis and further, in the 80s, and "Crooked Red Line", diluted with sharp saxophone parties, is rather associated with the early work of Ulver despite the magnificent guest appearance of the soloist Shining Jorgen Mankuby, which provides the track needed dark emotions. Crisp, warm and fat production only emphasizes the progressive nature of "Arktis." And perceived as another echo from the 80s.
And although these links look organically, the best album works at the moments of fragility and melancholy. "My Heart Is of The North", for example, contains a "clean" lull between the portions of the crushing Schrödning, which becomes an organ parties to the final and turns the composition to one of the best on the disk.
Einar Solberg from Leprous appears in the "Disassembled" and "Celestial Violence" and provides brilliant contrasts of the Blackcock vocal of Ishant. The same softness is again manifested with the moving acoustics "FRAIL", but the vertex becomes "in the vaults" with southerling vocal melodies and lyrics. Reflections on the long Norwegian Winter in these moments seem to be the most authentic.
"Arktis." It is filled with interesting songs that fluctuate between the gloominess and dichotomies, but something interesting happened in the speakers.
That's faithful to his form, the album becomes indivisible experience with the perfect duration of 48 minutes and the completion of the "Celestial Violence" - a song that lowers the curtain with solemnity and drama. The last embodiment of the "Ishanovsky" sound turns to dozens of influences and turns them into something dynamic and attractive, and multiple emotions only complement the artistic authentics within the framework of the concept of northern travels: dangerous expeditions in distant, extreme and very diverse lands.
