I turned to see whose voice it was that spoke to me
And when I turned I saw seven standing lamps of gold
And among the lamps one like a son of man robed down his feet
With golden girdle round his breast
The hair of his head was white as snow-white
Wool and his eyes famed like fire
His feet gleamed like burnished brass relined in furnance
And his voice was like the sound of rushing waters
In his right hand he held seven stars
And out of his mouth came a sharp two-edged sword
And his face shone like a sun in full strength
When I saw him I fell to his feet as though dead
But he laid his right hand upon me and said:
"Don't be afraid,
I'm the first and the last —
And I am the living one for
I was dead and now
I am alive for evermore
And I hold the keys of death and death's domain"
