Foreigner ( рус. «иностранец») — американская рок-группа, созданная в 1976 году Миком Джонсом, (ранее группы Spooky Tooth, The Leslie West Band) и бывшим участником King Crimson Иэном Макдональдом. Foreigner (Russian "foreigner") is an American rock band created in 1976 by Mick Jones, (formerly Spooky Tooth, The Leslie West Band) and former King Crimson member Ian MacDonald. Their first six albums (1977-1984) became multi-platinum and generally sold better in the United States than their competitors from the hard rock world; in all, over 70 million copies of their albums were sold in the world.
The group’s most famous songs are Cold as Ice, Feels Like the First Time, Waiting for a Girl Like You, Urgent, I Want to Know What Love Is, I Don't Want to Live Without You ”and“ Until the End of Time ”. At the dawn of their work, the group played melodic rock, which influenced the formation of glam rock and glam metal ”, but later in their work the team managed to combine such genres of music as progressive rock, R&B and pop music [3], which immediately affected team popularity. Beginning with Agent Provocateur's album, the powerful guitar riffs that dominated the band's musical style gave way to keyboards and synthesizers in melodies, but despite this, the band continued to play their favorite hard rock.
Most of the Foreigner songs were co-written by Mick Jones and Lou Graham, and their authorship earned great respect and success, but in the late 1980s the band's music began to be purely commercial in nature, the songs became less expressive and darker.
The group continues to exist to this day, however, from the original composition in it remained only Jones. Foreigners are considered the founders of hard n heavy and soft metal. | |
