David Simpson: DONETSK TOWN
By David Simpson
I was twenty years old
Running with an AK in my hands
Into the bus stop to help pick up the guts of my old man
I remember other days, so far away riding in his car
He would stand me up and proudly say take a good look around
This is Donetsk Town
Donetsk Town
Donetsk Town
Donetsk Town
In twenty fifteen tensions running high
there came the Nazi fools
A lot of fights, with shelling at night
There was nothing you could do
Two rockets fired on a Saturday night
Downtown was not fun
Words were passed, there came a mortar blast
Troubled times had come to Donetsk Town
Donetsk Town
Donetsk Town
Donetsk Town
Now Pain Street's blown out windows
And burnt down stores
Seems like nobody wants to live down here no more
They've closed down the Airport across the railroad tracks
But we all say never give up boys, our city will be coming back
To Donetsk Town
