Sixteen years that was my age
Sixteen years and not afraid
At Sixteen years I hadn't learnt
That fear would come from being burnt
At Sixteen years there didn't seem
A single lesson left for me
And as the bottle spun around
It came to rest and singled out
A girl who seemed of my own age
Innocence to be betrayed
As we played our simple game
Standing in our adult frames
I reached to turn and kiss the girl
Barely shared a single word
At Sixteen years we both had made
The choice to give our love away
Spin
And as the night grew quiet
She leant on me and said
Would you walk me home
Until I'm safely in my bed
But as we left the room, outside
A man of far more years than me
Stopped us to say - Why do you go
Why do you take a girl that I know
I'm just Sixteen years - that's all I am
Just Sixteen years - not yet a man
There's a guy who's dressed in leather and
He knows no reason or who I am
He hit me down and
He hit me hard and
He hit me and I fell
Before I knew it I was on the ground
Spin
I was Sixteen years old
Sixteen years brave
And I beat that lad until
I saw the blood run from his face
Blood run from his eyes
Blood run from his mouth
Blood run from his world
And the boy ran from the house
I was Sixteen years old
Sixteen years brave
But why I never saw the girl
Of Sixteen years wait
Still, I never saw the girl again
