It happened long ago
In time of onset
The land was waterlocked –
Deep sea all round.
In its depth a dreadful dragon lived
He was named Tsmok The Fierce
Every day he tolled a live tribute
Keeping in awe human minds.
At every set of day
New sacrifice came ashore
Taking the last breaths
In the face of imminent death.
Let the guiltless souls
Fly away with the wind
Move to a better world –
Leave painful minutes behind, forget and forgive.
The King is deep in grief:
His daughter’s turn comes
But he has to accept
This sacrifice.
Only the lion-hearted knight-errant
Can put an end to the sorrow.
He goes straight to the Dragon’s den,
Thrilling the monster’s mind
The sound of wind,
The wrath of heavens,
The cries of those who were
Condemned to death,
Beseeching wails,
The fear, despair
Are soaring still above
That tragic place.
At every set of day
New sacrifice came ashore
Taking the last breaths
In the face of imminent death.
Let the guiltless souls
Fly away with the wind
Move to a better world –
Leave painful minutes behind, forget and forgive.
