In the morning we ran
with the sun fresh in our eyes.
We knew no reading of time.
Together we bathed in the rainfall
and we washed our skins clean.
And each night when the orange sun fell
from our eyes,
we found music in the streams.
A broken moon echoed our songs
while we lay with our mother.
And we heard the earth turn,
scratched the surface
and found our belonging,
never quite assuming her colour.
I with the sad eyes,
you with the ruined smile,
we licked (kissed) the face of heaven,
tasted nothing.
I with the sad eyes,
you with the ruined smile,
we lost our hands in the earth
where we graved our dead.
Our dreams never found each other,
all the angels' wings were clipped.
We took a stone from the water
and fell from tune.
We tore the trees from the ground
and wept with every rainfall.
We clawed at each others' eyes
and tore the hair from our heads.
We bled so hard we could no longer stand.
We cried for each other
and we cried for ourselves.
And we remained
still
(we remain...)
