The famous beautiful Gaelic song, to this day, played on the Irish Kayle (holidays) and the largest annual competition, Mod. This is a kind of cry for all the sailors who drowned in the seas of Scotland. In the spring of 1786, the young and handsome Allan Morrison, the captain from Stornway, who was sailing on a merchant ship between Lewis and the Isle of Man, sent his ship to Scalpey Island, where his bride Annie Campbell was waiting for him. But a storm came and the ship sank. Annie Campbell, heartbroken, fell ill and soon died. The land on Scalpey Island is not suitable for burial, it is too fragile, and the dead were always transported to the Atlantic Islands. Annie's father loaded her on a ship to bury on the best and most distant island of Harris, in Rodel. But a storm happened again on the way, and the team was forced to drop everything from the ship, including the coffin with Annie.
Soon after, the body of Allan Morrison was found on the shores of the Shiant Islands, and a few days later the body of Annie was also found there.
The song is still alive today and is performed in various variations. Some of them can be heard in Canada, where the inhabitants of the Hebrides of Scotland emigrated in the 19th century.
