(Окончание)..Особо стоит отметить единственную чужую вещь в альбоме - "Amos Moses". Это песня про некоего Эймоса Моузеса, родившегося в Луизиане, в семье охотника на крокодилов. Эймос и Моузес - это английское произношение иудейских имён Амос и Моисей. В честь этих древних пророков и был назван отпрыск. Когда Эймос был еще мальчишкой, папаша использовал его в качестве приманки для зверя:
Обматывал веревкой за талию и бросал в болото
Приманка для крокодилов в болотах Луизианы...
В итоге, Эймос сам вырос удалым охотником, оглушающим крокодилов своей культёй, ибо остался он после отцовских проделок с одной рукой - вторая торчала обрубком по локоть. Но с тех пор законы Луизианы либерализовались, политкорректность стали требовать и по отношению к крокодилам. Прослышав про незаконный промысел Эймоса, местный шериф отправился на болота поймать его с поличным. Песня заканчивается жестокой иронией:
Интересно, куда подевался шериф Луизианы?
Наверняка заблудился в болотах Луизианы...
Автор и изначальный исполнитель "Amos Moses" был американский певец кантри Джерри Рид. Но здесь гипнотический гитарный рифф Зала Леменсона на всём протяжении песни и напряженный вокал Алекса создают совсем другую музыкальную реальность, рядом с которой оригинал Рида просто не слушается.
В середине семидесятых в моду вошла фанк-музыка, и фанк ритмы применяли многие даже хард-рок-группы - вспомните альбомы Deep Purple того времени. Алекс Харви Бэнд также отдал дань моде в этом альбоме - по крайней мере две вещи несут на себе это заокеанское влияние: "Jungle Rub Out" (Замочили в джунглях) и "$25 For A Massage" (25$ за массаж). Но ядовитая хард-гитара Леменсона не дает расслабиться и в этих танцевальных ритмах.
Необычно для SAHB звучит песня Хью Маккенны "Sirocco", само название которой настраивает на арабские страны, бедуинские караваны и пески. Сирокко - жаркий ветер-суховей, дующий из пустынь Африки на средиземноморские страны. Это песня-гипноз. Самая тяжелая вещь в альбоме - "Dogs Of War" (Ужасы войны, церберы ада), текст ее довольно замысловатый, но судя по названию и ярости исполнения, это нечто антивоенное. Если учесть, что среди надписей на внутреннем развороте есть и такая: "Гитара гораздо важнее автомата!"
Весь альбом SAHB Stories слушается на одном дыхании и считается одним из основополагающих в коллекции любителей Алекса Харви и его Сенсационной Банды.

(End) .. Of particular note is the only foreign song in the album - "Amos Moses". This is a song about a certain Amos Moses, who was born in Louisiana, in the family of a crocodile hunter. Amos and Moses is the English pronunciation of the Hebrew names Amos and Moses. In honor of these ancient prophets, the offspring was named. When Amos was still a boy, Dad used him as bait for the beast:
Wrapped the rope around my waist and threw it into the swamp
Lure for crocodiles in the swamps of Louisiana ...
As a result, Amos himself grew up as a daring hunter, stunning crocodiles with his stump, because he remained after his father's tricks with one hand - the other stuck out like a stump to the elbow. But since then the laws of Louisiana have been liberalized, and political correctness has been demanded in relation to crocodiles. Hearing about Amos's illegal fishing, the local sheriff went to the swamps to catch him red-handed. The song ends with cruel irony:
I wonder where the Louisiana Sheriff has gone?
Surely lost in the swamps of Louisiana ...
The author and original performer of "Amos Moses" was American country singer Jerry Reid. But here the hypnotic guitar riff of Hall Lemenson throughout the song and Alex's intense vocals create a completely different musical reality, next to which the original of Reed simply does not listen.
In the mid-seventies, funky music came into vogue, and many even hard rock bands used funky rhythms - remember the Deep Purple albums of that time. Alex Harvey Band also paid tribute to fashion with this album - at least two things carry this overseas influence: "Jungle Rub Out" (Soaked in the jungle) and "$ 25 For A Massage" ($ 25 for a massage). But Lemenson's poisonous hard guitar does not allow you to relax in these dance rhythms.
Unusually for SAHB, Hugh McKenna's song "Sirocco" sounds, the very name of which attunes to Arab countries, Bedouin caravans and sands. Sirocco is a hot dry wind blowing from the deserts of Africa to Mediterranean countries. This is a hypnosis song. The hardest thing on the album is "Dogs Of War", the lyrics are rather intricate, but judging by the title and the fury of the performance, it is something anti-war. Considering that among the inscriptions on the inside spread there is also the following: "The guitar is much more important than the machine!"
The entire SAHB Stories album is listened to in one breath and is considered one of the founding ones in the collection of fans of Alex Harvey and his Sensational Gang. Смотрите также: | |
