In July 1969, PINK FLOYD performed the concert program "More Furious Madness from the Massed Gadgets of Auximens", consisting of two parts: "The Man" and "The Journey".
At such concerts "Floyd" already built their performances as cycles of songs from two albums, named "The Man" and "The Journey" respectively. The first of them was supposed to show one day in the life of a typical Briton. It began with a morning episode, then work, a break for tea (the scene described by Renwick), then climax: the onset of twilight - a time that the inhabitants of the marshlands in Cambridge call "ummagumma".
