Больше тысячи лет назад крестилась Русь. Случилось эпохальное событие, надолго определившее ход славянской истории - в нашей стране вера святых апостолов стала государственной религией. И мы, современные россияне, привыкли, что Россия – страна православная. Некоторым даже кажется, что Православие – исконно русская вера. Будто бы нигде больше Православия нет, разве только мы в далёкой стране свой русский храм построим.
На самом деле, это, конечно, не так. По всему миру рассеяны древние церкви-сёстры, признающие Никео-Цареградский Символ веры (который мы с вами поём за каждой Литургией) и исповедующие одни и те же догматы. У каждой из таких церквей свои патриархи, своя история и свои особенности, но мы – едины, состоим в литургическом общении, у нас общие святые, одна вера.
Что это за церкви? Константинопольская, Александрийская, Антиохийская, Иерусалимская, Русская, Грузинская, Сербская, Румынская, Болгарская, Кипрская, Элладская (Греческая), Албанская, Польская, Чешских земель и Словакии, Американская и Канадская.
Вплоть до 451 года членом Единой, Святой и Апостольской Церкви была и Армянская Церковь. Удивительно, но Армения – первая страна, где Православие было признано государственной религией. Случилось это в 301 году, трудами благословлённого Богом святителя Григория, которого и зовут за это Просветителем. Честная глава первого епископа Армянской Церкви покоится сейчас в Неаполе, десница (правая рука) – в Вагаршапате, часть мощей – в Ереване и других святых местах.
Как это ни грустно, но древняя и великая Церковь Армении под влиянием разных причин отошла от истинной веры, хоть и называет до сих пор себя православной. Это означает, что те пятнадцать церквей, а значит, Единая, Святая и Апостольская Церковь, основанная Господом нашим Иисусом Христом, признаёт Армянскую Церковь заблудившейся сестрой, отпавшей от живительного корня истины и ушедшей «в страну далече».
Это означает, что перед образом великого просветителя Армении мы молимся не только о своих личных проблемах, но и взываем о братьях-армянах, чтобы они через покаяние вернулись в родную Православную Церковь – им даже креститься (а священникам – заново рукополагаться) не надо.
Ещё больше молимся, чтобы Армянская Церковь через ведущийся сегодня богословский диалог признала свои вероучительные ошибки, и воссоединилась с истинным Православием, и стала шестнадцатой в списке церквей-сестёр.
Знаем точно: об этом перед Престолом Божиим молится сейчас и основатель Армянской Церкви – святой Григорий Просветитель.

More than a thousand years ago, Russia was baptized. An epochal event happened that determined the course of Slavic history for a long time - in our country the faith of the holy apostles has become the state religion. And we, modern Russians, are used to the fact that Russia is an Orthodox country. Some even think that Orthodoxy is a primordially Russian faith. As if there is no Orthodoxy anywhere else, unless we build our Russian temple in a distant land.
In fact, this, of course, is not so. Ancient sister churches are scattered throughout the world, recognizing the Nicene-Tsaregradsky Creed (which we sing at each Liturgy) and professing the same dogmas. Each of these churches has its own patriarchs, its own history and its own characteristics, but we are one, we are in liturgical communion, we have common saints, one faith.
What kind of churches are these? Constantinople, Alexandria, Antioch, Jerusalem, Russian, Georgian, Serbian, Romanian, Bulgarian, Cyprus, Hellas (Greek), Albanian, Polish, Czech lands and Slovakia, American and Canadian.
Until 451, the Armenian Church was a member of the One, Holy and Apostolic Church. Surprisingly, Armenia is the first country where Orthodoxy was recognized as the state religion. This happened in 301, through the labors of God blessed St. Gregory, who is called the Enlightener for this. The honest head of the first bishop of the Armenian Church now rests in Naples, the right hand (right hand) - in Vagharshapat, part of the relics - in Yerevan and other holy places.
Sad as it may seem, the ancient and great Church of Armenia, under the influence of various reasons, departed from the true faith, although it still calls itself Orthodox. This means that those fifteen churches, and therefore the One, Holy and Apostolic Church, founded by our Lord Jesus Christ, recognize the Armenian Church as a lost sister, who has fallen from the life-giving root of truth and has gone "far away."
This means that in front of the image of the great enlightener of Armenia, we pray not only for our personal problems, but also cry out for the Armenian brothers, so that through repentance they return to their native Orthodox Church - they do not even need to be baptized (and priests re-ordained).
We pray even more that the Armenian Church through its theological dialogue today will acknowledge its doctrinal errors, and reunited with true Orthodoxy, and become the sixteenth in the list of sister churches.
We know for sure: now the founder of the Armenian Church, St. Gregory the Illuminator, is praying about this before the Throne of God.
